02:51 pm UM I think I'm in love with Excel. Seriously.
Ever since this summer when I was using it constantly, I've felt comfortable with it as a program. Now my comfort is turning into... deep, deep appreciation: AKA love. I'm using it to analyze privatization data from Brazil, i.e. value of an enterprise as determined by price of privatization divided by services provided (for telecom, # of customers, for steel, kgs produced, etc.). Fun with numbers and research! Oh dear, if this doesn't make me a dork, I don't know what will.
Does anyone else out there love Excel? Or should I search for a support group?
PS Even though I was crabby this morning from lack of sleep, both my quizzes went quite well (I think). Current Mood: content Current Music: Merengue Arrimao - Celia Cruz

03:01 am - I'm back! Whew. That was a fun trip. For all of those out of the loop, I just went on a two-day backpacking trip to Mt. Hood. It was quite fun. Here is a link to some pictures.
This was with a new club at the UW called the Excursion Club. It is starting up in colleges all over the northwest, from the UW to WWU, to OSU. So if you attend any of those schools, look for a group on Facebook and hop on the bandwagon!
I seriously don't think the trip could have gone any better. I feel really healthy after all of that frolicking in the higher altitudes and sun exposure. Of course that could be a side affect of that liter of glacier water I drank... but nahhhhh.
Hopefully I will get to go to Bumbershoot tomorrow if my friend Evelyn still has the ticket!
Peace, Zell. Current Location: My apartment, equipped with indoor plumming (appreciate it) Current Mood: awake Current Music: silence

04:18 pm - Hey Dudes Omg I officially exist again.
I feel like I've been passing this summer in a coma, daze or similar. I decided it was time to wake myself up before I'm rudely awakened by (avert your eyes) CLASS! Yeahhh why does it seem like summer is eternal until it ends? It's so funny how weather seems so unimportant (one of those classically boring subjects) and yet it affects our mood, clues us in to the changing seasons, determines our fate, etc, etc.
I guess I can do a mini update on my status as of now.
- Still gainfully employed (don't know how!!) - Still need to return the uniform from my last job, heh, heh, heh, not to mention get my paycheck. - Desperately need to clean my apartment. - I'm going back packing with this new club at the UW called the Excursion Club, I am also an officer, an "Environmental Liaison," snazzy huh? - I'm looking up exchange programs on the IPE website for a potential Junior year in Japan - Callie has left me all alone as she is in Guatemala (hence the dirty apartment) - I feel like all that "maturing" I've done throughout my life hasn't really taken hold. Like I could lose it (or already have). - I've realized that I am actually a very uncool college student as I spend 50% of my time "out on the town" with my parents.
Needless to say, some things have to change.
PS Anyone going to Bumbershoot on Monday? I really want to see "Trapped in the Closet" and "Best Week Ever." Yay for comedy! Screw pretentious Seattle Indie music! (shh shhh you know I love you) Current Mood: weird, can you tell? Current Music: the printer... at work (oops)

04:26 pm - YAY
Total sweetness. my new job is so exciting! Let me make a list, because I loooove making lists (not sarcastic):
- My boss seems very helpful and nice - it seems like I am going to learn a lot and be involved in several different projects - I am going to be given responsibilities like driving county vehicles and maybe leading volunteer opportunities - my pay is not $10.73 an hour like I previously thought (upped from $9.50 for non-college kids) but $11.24 (!!!!!) because of a recent wage adjustment for 2006 - I have a desk in a cubicle next to a window overlooking safeco field - there are bicycle storage, locker, and exercising facilities that may be available to me - my boss totally encouraged me to get free bus by covering up the bottom part of my ID card that says "no transit" (note, all king county employees get free bus, except for temporary/internship positions, i.e. me)
Now it's off to Sushi Land to make more cheddah... man I am going to be somebody's pimp daddy at this point. Current Location: The Central Library Current Mood: accomplished

01:42 pm - Awesomeness
"Hello Roselle:
I rec'd the documentation from the UW today and so have submitted the full packet of information to the Human Resources office this AM. They said they will need a few days to get all approvals but guaranteed me that you could start on payroll on July 3 (July 4 is a holiday, non-work day obviously). I know you are heading off on vacation before too long.
Can you please call me to discuss our next steps in getting you on board? If you don't reach me directly please let me know some optional dates/times for returning your call.
Thanks.

12:34 pm - This is awesome! How many times have high school students in Seattle complained about class size, budget cuts, choice of which teachers to keep, AP fees and such? Well some students in Chile have taken it into their own hands.
Cool!

10:37 pm So basically my friends across the hall projected porn onto the wall of our dorm, and the RAs came in and wrote down the names of everyone on the balcony at the time (including me). I had my meeting today and it looks very likely that I will have to do some educational punishment as a way of showing I have learned the evils of allowing your friends to fuck around. Yay for an apartment next year. Current Mood: calm
